question about a Happy Cooker
« on: September 01, 2013, 05:36:56 AM »
Hey Fellas, I have a question about a Happy Cooker.
I was visiting my brother yesterday, and he grilled up some stuff on his 18 cooker. I noticed the ash pan inside the kettle. I gave him a hard time about it because I have seen so many ads that people leave the ash pan inside. Now the joke might be on me,.....and the reason I say that is because the ash pan had small holes all the way around it, on it's outer raised lip and it sort of made sense....I guess.
Not knowing about these grills, I just left it at that and away he grills. It seemed though that his coals went out relatively quick.
Can anyone set me straight on the ash pan situation? Does the ash pan sit on the legs like a REAL weber of inside under the charcoal grate?

The ashpan for the HC is indeed an internal ashpan.I've got the internal ashpan for a 22 that I use in my 3 wheel kettle/wsm. Really works great for slow and low cooks... and clean up!  Guess I need to start looking for an 18 HC now...

Yep, what they said. The internal ash pan is gold to me.  They are awesome for three wheeler cooking, whether hot or low and slow.

I have never seen one for an 18 ... that would be interesting.
