@mcgolden - As long as the stains are not etched into the metal, they should polish right out.  Multiple applications of Mothers Aluminum polish, buffing after each application should do the trick. Same thing applies to the vents.  The best polish is Rolite Supra.  It is a aircraft aluminum polish that @zavod44 turned me on to.  It is really expensive but cuts down on the polishing time.

If there is heavy staining, grease or smoke buildup on the vents, hit them with #0000 steel wool. Use it in a circular motion.  Then use the polish.

 

Wow, you're not kidding. That polish is expensive stuff, but man it does an awesome job. Thanks for the advice.
