Does it just pull out?
Do you guys clean the probe?
Don't think it's accurate.
Maybe just needs to be cleaned?
Thanks in advance for any wisdom.

Jason

Yes, they just slide out. You might need to rotate it a bit as you remove it. I have have/had several of these. The one on my Red SSP is very accurate. I have tested others that were nowhere near accurate.

It's funny because the one on my Red Master Touch and Red Genesis are pretty spot on... My Blue Master Touch one, not so much.. I am thinking of investing in the Tel-Tru dial therm that easily fits in one of the lid vent holes for my MBH/non therm equipped kettles. Similar to the set up that I have seen @Jim Lampe use.

I read They were designed as a dual purpose.  You can pull it out of lid and stick in the meat to check internal temp.

Craig, are you referring to this set-up?

@Jim Lampe That's the one! Is that Tel-Tru pretty accurate? Seems to get great reviews. I've been eying that setup for a while now. I figured its non invasive (no having to drill into a vintage cooker) what length of probe is that one?

it's only a 2" probe, and without testing it, the accuracy is close enough for me. And I also read all those reviews.... like ThermaWorks, Tel-Tru stands behind their goods.

Craig

Thanks for the input, Jim. This helps me out a lot. Now I just need to decide which dial style. Regular, black or glow in the dark.

Jim Lampe

I like the regular red, but then, i'm a Badger fan ;)

I have the blacked out dial for my smoker. You can fine tune them as they have a set screw.
