Adding a OTG ash pan to a Silver?
« on: March 26, 2016, 11:16:40 PM »
Just bought a Craigslist One touch silver off craigslist to handle holiday cooks at moms. However its always at a minimum breezy here, so I am not sure the ash pan is going to cut it.

If I buy the ash catcher assembly from a OTG does it line up with the handle for the sweeps? Is it a simple matter of installing it at one does on the gold/performer?

I am sure someone here has done this? I've read mixed reviews googling it. One man said he had to drill some stuff out to mount it, while others have said it fits right on?

Give this a shot: http://weberkettleclub.com/blog/2014/03/03/converting-a-weber-ots-to-otg/

Depending on the age of your kettle it might be plug and plug for the current style.

I think it pretty new. It was a NIB 22 in U-Line OTS. I'll have to look in the morning to see if it has slots in the leg sockets for tabs.
Looks like if it has the newer style sweep, and slots in the leg sockets, its a direct fit?

thanks for the link.

Yes. Your choices include either the current (2015 and later) ash ring and bucket ....

... or the earlier ash ring and bucket ... don't have the part# handy for the kit n't one at this link shows the black bucket but most were plain aluminum

Either ring will work but ya gotta get the correct bucket for whichever ring you get.
