Redhead One Touch Plus
« on: May 10, 2016, 05:28:13 PM »
This popped up Saturday morning, and I couldn't say no for $20.  Selling two grills to co-workers who have been intrigued by my hobby later this week to make room.  Before those go off to their new homes I think I'll take a big family picture later this week.

Anyway, this was in excellent shape.  It was missing the ash catcher, but they had created a pretty ingenious version of a One Touch ash catcher.  It is a funnel shaped metal bowl with a removable bottom.

Here's a closeup:

Anyway, sanded and re-stained the handles, then put her all together using the ash pan off of my brownie.  Only thing missing is one of the rollers for the lid bale.

Upside down L code!

Here it is between the A code and EZ performer (soon to be relocated)

Finally, I put that old ash catcher on my brownie until I find a new ash pan for it (brownie is definitely more a cooker than a looker)

Nice find Jason!
If it were me though I'd keep the redhead ssp and sell the blue.
It's awesome of you to be spreading around the weber love to some coworkers

I had to pass on a green ssp, but if it were red...well the wife would still be rolling her eyes

You've got a nice collection there jd.

I wouldn't mind someday doing the same as you and others here, finding, restoring, swapping, collecting and selling. Just a cool hobby. Congrats man!

Yes I'm selling the red performer and the blue back in the corner to coworkers.  I'll reveal why in a week or so...

One co-worker just moved into a new house from an apartment and wants a grill, and is going to give charcoal a shot, the other got rid of gas, then went to a crappy Walmart backyard charcoal grill, and it's falling apart on him after about a year.

I just visited my friend from work who I gifted an unused 2000 black grill back in March, and he told me how he used it last night on some pork loin, using a rub I gave him as well:).  Next week Tuesday we're grilling together.  It's fun to spread the Weber love.

Excellent score… congrats!

Before those go off to their new homes I think I'll take a big family picture later this week.

Can't wait to see the family pic!

Very nice collection. I need to thin the herd as well, but losing an SSP would be unbearable.  ;D

I agree completely.  I offered a SSP to my friend and every day I wish it was in my back yard.

Guys...you're giving me second thoughts...do you all still have two SSPs?  I will say, I think I'd miss the storage.

So you're getting rid of both performers!?

You'll reveal why in a week or so...I smell a summit in the works.

I know people love their performers (me too), but I find myself cooking on the vintage ones more, call me old fashioned
