Alright, I have had these wooden lid bale rollers on my new-to-me lime green performer for a few weeks now. Done maybe 4-5 cooks on it so far.
I decided to do a good test on them. Some high-heat chicken wings.
Two charcoal baskets located close to each of the wooden lid bale rollers.
I gotta say … I am very impressed.
Sure, the wood got very hot to the touch, but I was never concerned that they would "burst" into flames.
If anyone is considering this, I recommend it. Whether it be for a Performer or a MasterTouch.
A good hardwood would be my preference. Mine don't match the handle, but that is not a deal-breaker for me.
