Own it and love it! I had previously thought that these were discontinued but it was either Brian, Troy or Jeff that pointed me into the right direction of getting one last summer. I got mine from Amazon. I think they work on the 26"ers too.

have one and love it. Bought one for my kid this Christmas as well.
Lookin' for a flat top 26"( not black)

I have two of these. They work real good. The lid stays almost straight up vertical when it's in the holder.
This is the original Weber kettle. The most powerful bbq grill in the world and can blow your taste-buds clean off! So, you have to ask yourself one question: "Do you feel hungry? Well, do you punk?"

Excellent, two will be on my list of things to get before the season officially starts (which for me is when the temps are back in the 50's) ;)

I don't have a 26vso this does not matter to me yet, but can we get a definite confirmation that this would  work with a 26?  The weber verbiage says "Fits all Weber® 18.5" and 22.5" charcoal grills" and it would be nice to know for certain if it works on the 26.

Brian would have to chime in, but I thought I saw a pic of his lid holder on his '85 26"er not too long ago. It was last year, over at the other place I saw the pic. In fact it was Brian, who told me that Weber still made them as I recall.

Duke, I hope you don't mind, but I wanted to share your "El Jefe" for slide aside compatibility purposes, oh and for the TOTAL AWESOMENESS that this kettle is!  8)

I remember that thing!  Awesome.

I have a 1985 26 and I use it all the time.  Works awesome.  Plus that 26 lid is super heavy.  It's twice as heavy as grandpa's lid.

I remember El Jefe from the other site too, looks even better over here. I still love that gasser thermometer in the black 26, if fortune ever shines my way I am so gonna copy that.

I was so excited to get that therm, I love it on my 26....
