What color of blue is this?
« on: December 05, 2023, 12:07:46 PM »
I've had this kettle for a few years now and uncovered it today to clean it up and maybe start using it in the rotation. I haven't seen another in this same shade of blue. It's almost a dull cobalt or grey blue. Maybe just faded? I tried to take photos in different levels of light to capture the actual color. If you know what Weber called this color or have any other info, please share. My research has turned up very little. It's coded EI so I know it's from the late 90's

Thanks so much and Merry Christmas - Happy Holidays to all!

I have a catalog from that time, and they simply called it Blue with no adjectives.   The early blue grills from the MBH era were called “dark blue”.   I have an A and B code blue 22 and 18.  They are a little darker than the blues from the late 80s and 90s.  I had a P code 22 that was noticeably lighter than the older ones.

Thanks for the reply Michael. That helps put a stop to the query. I couldn't find much, so makes sense there isn't a large delineation between the blue color names. I have a 2010 AD code (blue as well) but it's almost a purple blue or royal blue so i was curious. Appreciate your feedback!

Cheers!

Hard to tell in these photos, I'll do a side by side sometime for future reference

Cool.  The lack of uniformity actually makes it all the more fun.  Reds across decades have even more variation.   No two mist style lids are the same.

I have seen this shade of blue before.
I had a ER-code MasterTouch that I bought off of MrHoss.
He liked to refer to it as Ford blue.
No longer in my possession.

For the life of me, I can't find any pics.
Perhaps @RottiGuy can provide some...  ;)
Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
