So, I have been waiting for the new Summit® Kamado E6 Charcoal Grill in Canada and now a bit disappointed to hear that a lot of new owners are not happy with how "wobbly" it is.  Weber redesigned the legs/base and sounds like they may have under-engineered it.  Anyone out there have one yet and can comments? I was not going to purchase the table model, but I may have to reconsider.

The silly thing about this is how much would have the cost increased just to add 3 bars at the bottom for support?

This really should have been an easy homerun for them given the price drop and already having 95% of the development and testing done on this thing.  All the had to do was use it and they would have said "hey this thing is too wobbly to be a premium product."

Things like this just really makes me scratch my head.  Why go 90% of the way towards making an excellent product and then totally drop the ball on the last 10%?

Its like the Smokefire all over again.  I was interested, but now I feel like why should I even bother until they work out the issues.

Regardless of any quality issues, I would probably get a kamado joe if I was in the market.

Hate to say it but after watching that video , I think buying a chargriller Akorn at a 1/3 of the price would be better.

Yeah, I am pretty upset, and still considering one and just making a customized base for it to stiffen things up....

1) I don't want a ceramic.  Had one.  Too heavy (I move my grill around depending on wind direction, season etc).  Particularly since I want a 24" grill....weight is even moreso.

2) Currently have a Broil King Keg, which is fantastic for hot cooks, but sucks as a smoker...it's too efficient.  It is also too small...I really want a 24"....so ditto on the AKorn....too small for my needs.

*sigh*

I love my Summit grilling Center. It's too bad they decided to remove the triangle support from the stand alone. Maybe as a fix they'll send you the proper bracing that's on the more expensive Summit.

The legs of the Summit also look underengineered to me. The grate at the bottom doesn't have a solid connection so what did they expect with a heavy grill sitting on top?

Not surprised at all. Just by looking at the photos, there's no way in hell the legs are stable/durable enough for the size and weight of the grill.

I went to the BBQ place today and they have a used (demo day model - they said 10-15 cooks on it) Summit Charcoal 1st Gen on for $400 off (from $2000 Canadian).  Not the "Center" version..no table.  I'm tempted...we'll see.  They won't reduce the price further (at this point).  Anyways, you can certainly see the legs braces on the first gen and that would not be hard to duplicate on a new one....but it's a complete shame you would even have to think about doing it.  I mean, it's three pieces of metal and six screws!!

The revised unit isn't for sale yet, but the updated base is now on the Website.

Some of the original "wobbly" owners have reported getting their warranty replacements and all seem to be thrilled with the new update...rock solid etc.  I have decided to go with the S6 to get the table (after some deliberation/discussion) so just waiting for them to be released in Canada...
