SS charcoal basket
« on: April 10, 2020, 12:27:37 PM »
I recently saw an announcement about the fact the new SnS charcoal baskets are now in Stainless steel,  but someone made the comment "these must be 304 stainless" I read this as if there is something wrong with 304 SS . Will someone please inform me as to why this might be a bad thing.

I ordered one for my ‘73 Easterner, it came and seems to be of good quality.  Definitely not as thick and heavy as the slow n sear though.

304 SS is fine and probably the most widely used stainless steel out there. 316 SS however, is better but only very mildly for this application. It is also more expensive.

These baskets are shinier and cheaper priced than the first order. Which begged the question.

I said they “can’t” be 304SS. 304 is what you’d expect they be made from.
