Standard 22 grill grates different wieghts?
« on: April 09, 2013, 07:41:47 PM »
I have a set of replacement grates for my crate and barrel platinum and I noticed they are not as heavy as the ones on my 2010 platinum.

Anybody else notice that some weber grill grates are heavier than others?

Both grates are new never cooked on btw.

Well, I know that the lightest ones are the standard issue post 2000 OTS grates. There flimsey and light. Pre 2000 the standard grates were thicker and heavier. Then theres the hinged grates, there a little heavier and more durable than regular ones. Now the sear grate system....that thing is like a tank which stands to reason since it has to hold the cast iron center.

Both sets are the flip up hinged type.

Thanks Craig.
