Well, I tried to do my first cook on her Wednesday night. All was going well until I tried lifting the lid. Turns out the last guy's attempted fix on the handle with JB weld didn't work. The handle came clean off and I had two gaping lid holes. So I fixed them today. The 1978 green mbh is now officially a cooker not a looker!

Looking good! At least it did not come off on you while lifting off the bowl and dropped on the ground. You would be posting here if it happened.

That JB weld never works, you did what you had to do and I think it's great. Looks good and I would not hesitate to cook on it....

@Craig
thank you. I am super glad I didn't end up trading this with you...I would have felt terrible if this would have happened to someone else. As it is, I'm really happy with how it looks. I used some dark green grill paint on the fender washers, and it matches fairly well with the kettle. The machine screws and washers are really tight. She's got a long, happy life ahead of her now.

Nice kettle and nice resto. You can give Quiksteel a try. Good up to like 2000 degrees.
