repurposing lower kettle
« on: December 27, 2016, 01:15:42 PM »
so i swapped out some old broke down kettles in a grill cart and a response in that thread got me to thinking about how i could repurpose the bowls into perhaps a wood burnign fire pit....

any suggestions on what to use as a base to keep it from tipping over?  one or two of the leg sockets are missing.

thanks in advance....

You seem pretty handy so you would make some wide steel legs for it.

Weber firepit for inspiration:

Rummaging around in my shop I found an old chiminea stand hiding in the corner. Brought it down, dropped a bowl on it and now I have a fire pit.

In sleep mode....

Might be worth a trip to the car wash to pressure wash this old bowl and see what kinda shape it's really in.

I'm pretty sure I have enough paint left over to do the stand.

The other kettle is in similar shape...so if I can find another chiminea stand I'll have matching pits....

Nice!  That will work …

I custom-built a stand.  Works great.

That stand you made is awesome...on second thought I might get a little crazy painting my chiminea stand something other than black....

In a bowl like that it's not like you're worried about crazing. [emoji3]
