That's right AJ
Weber OZ recommends using heat bead brand briquettes in kettles
Does weber US have a similar recommendation?

Heyjude

To be honest, I don't know what they recommend. But the most common is a brand called Kingsford. We like to call it, "K". It has had many changes over the years, but its still fairly reliable.
We do many other choices though, and some will say its not that good. I have used various kinds and brands, but it works for me. It all depends on what you are cooking. I have yet to try coconut. It's supposed to be really good, but it is pricey.  8)
I don't care if you don't like my Avatar, its there for me..

I only use briquettes for L&S its a bit more consistent heat wise
And I use lump for everything else
Cheapest is red gum charcoal( that's not a brand) and mangrove lump which is imported from Thailand and other parts of Asia it has a very distinctive flavour
