So this grill has been #1 on my "gotta get one" list ever since I sold the one I had originally. I got it from another WKC member a few months back.

Here are a few "before" shots:

And some after shots:

Donor original style ash sweeps so that I could keep the original ash pan assembly

Original burner tube and igniter all cleaned up.

Used a product called Recolor to bring back the luster of the original frame paint.

And here she is, ready to fire up:

And with a few of the other family members.

A fun project, and she has already been used to grill steaks for my daughter's birthday.

Thanks Chris!

That "orange" sticker with safety instructions on the propane tank holder is a plastic sheet and really easy to remove. If you start carefully at one corner, the whole sheet will peel away.

Regardless, that's a heck of a restore. Nice job!

I usually re-paint the frames on SSPs and remove it first. I'm not sure how the Recolor product would work to match the color underneath with the rest of the frame, but I wouldn't be afraid to remove it if you don't want it there anymore.

Looks great.  I have a blue SSP which is my main grill and I love using it.

I have a 95 that I restored like that back in about 2008 that I bought off of CL for $65.  luckily back then you could still get the correct ash sweepers and a very generous person on the virtual Weber bullet site gave me a new bar to hold up the ash catcher ring.

I don't use it much anymore but I can't get myself to get rid of it.
