Last summer I gave the pot I had for my mini to my folks. Figured that t was time to cut up another pot for me. There have been occasions in the past year where I wish I had my mini to take along. Well, this morning I figured it was time. Pulled this new Vasconia pot out of the shed that I've had for about a year and cut the bottom out of it. I also drilled a hole in the side of the SJ bowl for my Party Q. Still need to install some rack mounts and latches to hold the pot to the bowl and lid for easy transport. I'm just seasoning the pot now.

That looks great, so what did you use to drill the hole?

I have a specific bottom for mine, I was given a SJG bottom with no legs or hardware so I made legs out of Alum rod and plugged the holes with nuts bolts and washers.

One vent if a port for the my party Q

I made Ribs in it once, I have to say best Ribs ever.

@LightningBoldtz I used a small drill bit to drill the pilot hole then used my step bit. These minis are AWSOME for small cooks and are super fuel efficient. I want to build this one to be more portable and contained so need to figure out a latch mechanism.

Here is my post from back in Jan

Note the plugs that I made with the Nomex felt, they use this for the gaskets on Kamado.

I ended up using this for the plug for the Party Q as well because I was concerned that I would need to wrench it down so far that I would damage the bowl.  Initially it kept slipping on me.

Great start on the build!
I've got one I've been needing to start. Are you gonna paint it?

Nate

@swamprb Yep that guru makes things simpler. I use it on my 18" WSM too. But I really got it to make the mini portable. I have a couple more parts to make it really portable.

@WSM I'm not going to paint it. I didn't paint my last one either. Here's the one I gave to my folks so they can take with them in their motor home adventures.
This one is going to be the new and improved version.😎

Nate

Finished it up this morning. Made it self contained and portable.
