would love to see some close up photos of that extension.
Here are the detailed pics Jeff. Sorry took so long what with the holidays and work.
The handles on the extension are the same length as the ones that are originally on the performer. Also put the plugs in the extension handles that I removed off the performer handles.
The underneath with extension installed. It does not interfere with the grate hanger. Thought about ordering another one and installing it on the extension, still considering it.
Last 3 pics is pulling the extension off. Last one shows the slide piece that goes inside the handles of the performer cart. Notice how the stainless of the extension goes past the black frame and that is where the slide pieces are, made it this way to fill the area between the performer handles and make it a very clean almost as if the performer was made this way.
Extension slid all the way out and ready for removal.
Used an extra tool holder on the extension handle so I can hang the grate.
Used pipe and ground it down to slide inside the extension frame and into the performer frame handles.
Underneath of extension table showing the frame.
The screws holding the stainless to the frame the one in red goes through the slide piece holding it into the extension table. The slide pieces just slide into the performer handles and the table held there by friction , it takes a bit to push it in to install, and pull it out to remove. Thinking of drilling the frame of the performer on the handles and then tapping the slide pieces to the extension so I can bolt it in. The table extension sags just ever so slightly and this would take care of that.
Hope that shows more detail. This was a fun project and I really like how well it works and how great it turned out.

Very cool mod! Would love to have an extended work surface like that! Thanks for the detailed pics. I think there's been a post where the extension is hinged. Would love to see detailed plans of that, as well.
