I've found over the years that both the daisy-wheel'rs and the OTS'rs have ash pan issues. As the ash frees itself from the bowl (or is that bowel), it drops into conical piles. Some is caught by the wind and finds my wooden deck, some lands on the top of the cone (meaning the pointy end), rolls down the side and, once again, finds my wooden deck. By ash here I mean both ash and smaller burning coals
Moving the ash pan higher didn't work for me, they just started to the wooden deck sooner. Did I mention it's a wooden deck??
I'm going to take a shot at making one a little larger. Of course, by now I've purchased wooden deck insurance in the form of a BBQ mat. SJ
