I've got first edition, second printing which I got with our first Kettle in '74. The only difference I spotted between it and the '72 version is some text on the family picture page that lists "first edition second printing" on the left page waterfall and the ISBN.
kettles, smokers...

I was just thumbing through my (first edition first printing*) copy of the 1972 "Covered Way" book, and noticed the SJ avacado, which I can not recall seeing before.  The question is, has anyone here seen one in person?  Do I recall that Jeff has one?

Also, just a good old fashioned bump of a nice topic with exellent photos.

*not so humble brag

Nope, I don't have one and have never seen of those 'Cado Smokies other than in this print.  Would sure like to have one!  Another Smokie I've never seen is a real yellow one with the offset handle.  This one is on my Grail list, but of course that line is very long.
Kettle collector AND cooker!

Here's a pig on a 22.

@Duke.... @1buckie put this pic on the No Explanation Necessary and thought you might have posted it a while back. Then he found the thread for me.  Did you do the cookup? This is frikin awesome!!! If you did the cookup, how many pounds was the hog or Jr. hog? What temp did you cook at, what internal temp did cook til, and how long did it take? Did you inject it?  Can ya tell I want to do one???

Ahhhh the early days... I remember this thread. I remember the fun I had that afternoon I spent taking all the pictures side by side.
