Did I screw up getting a 26r?
« on: November 19, 2014, 08:26:20 PM »
As I learn more and dive a little deeper into the world of kettle cooking, I can't help but notice that the accessory items are not directed at the 26r.

Things like a rotisserie or the Kettle Pizza seem to be made for the 18 and 22 models but not my beloved 26. Am I going to have to get a 22 so I can enjoy the extra toys?

I know kettle pizza has an extension section so you can fit the KP on a 26r.

Here's a roti bundle for a 26r.

The 26 is the kettle I use the most, and as argent mentioned, the roti ring from CB works awesome.

But, it shouldn't deter you from getting a few others 😄

Your 26er is a burden to you.  It will only cause heartache and frustration.  The best thing to do is mail it to me and I will send you a Kettle of your choice.

Just kidding.  No Kettle is a bad Kettle.  I have all sizes of Kettles but for the 26er and Ranch.  I would love to get them...will if I live long enough...and would find/create uses for them.  Kettles are cheap and plentiful on Craigslist so I would suggest you get a 18 and a 22.  I got an 18 OTG recently and it is my most used Kettle since then.....a miser on charcoal, light weight and small footprint.

It's impossible to screw up by getting a 26.
I only use kettles with lid bales.

I'd be happy to take your poor purchase off your hands, brother.  Time to cut your losses...

You can find a 22" on Craiglist just about any day of the week.  You won't find the same for a 26".  I love my 26 and use it often when I need the space.  But yes, for the toys I have a 22 also.  As this site will show you, you can never have too many kettles.

My brain hurts trying to do the maths on how a 26er is a mistake.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

26" webers are a burden. Especially if you are around the Little Elm area.

If you want, I do have some federal dollars that are not backed by much in exchange.

For what ever reason, I use my 26" as my daily cooker and I have quite a few 18"-22" kettles but the 26" was my first!  I love that thing,
You made the right choice buddy!

Lol thanks guys. I guess I just wasn't looking hard enough for the goods.

I do love it but I still haunt CL in hopes of scoring another kettle, preferably a 22. One will pop up.

Personally, I think it depends on how many you routinely cook for. I have a 26, along with several others of various sizes/colors. I cook 95% of the time on a Performer, that sits right outside my Man Cave. A couple times a year, for a party, I get the others out and fire them up. Otherwise, they are just collecting dust (covered of course haha)...... BUTT, when the time comes, and you get all (or some) of them) lit and cooking, its pretty sweet! ..... People seem to gravitate towards the Webers.
