Picked up an 18 from a nice lady. It was her father's.

It's funny, she was telling me how she had wanted a Performer, and was actually ready to pick one up in Oregon - to save taxes. But, she actually scored one in her neighborhood for $20! A real Grillfella-ella. She saw my WKC stickers on the Expeditionn, so I gave her the run down.

Anyway, decided to have some fun with this since it's my first 18 after trading away the 'cado.

Hogsy

Great pickup, unusual it doesn't have a twin rivet lid handle
I'm only 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers

That kettle is not in my back yard?

The thing that looks out of place for me is the wood handle and plastic wheels (given the ashpan and thumbscrews).

What is that graphic on the Ash Pan?

Very cool kettle!

Oh.. where to begin..

Let's begin at the top...

Single screw wood handle. That's because it's a 'C' code 18.
Tab on top vent trimmed and rounded.
Notice the bowl handles are not 'rounded'. Removed wood, cut off the tabs and filled the holes - instant MBH.
Matching 'C' vents on the bottom. Rusted tight. Pulled them off and added new HW.
Thumb screws. Holes drilled and tapped.
Legs from a 22.
And, The Pan.
Needs some training wheels to replace the plastic ones.

It's fun!

Winz, the graphic on the pan is CSI - California Steel Inc. Saw the same logo on the duct work in my building recently    8)
