Maybe we should start a gallery for them.

Personally I think folks are wayyyyyy to serious about some grills. To each their own, it's no different than modding a grill. It just being repurposed. I know that no ones opinion will sway my thinking.
Not everyone deserves to know the real you. Let them criticize who they think you are.

I know how you're feeling.

Using a rare, vintage grill for that purpose is blasphemy to us collectors and enthusiasts - there's no doubt about that.
The WKC community has created incredible desire and demand for old rare grills - hence the wicked price changes we've all witnessed (and suffered from).

On the positive side, that same demand for old grills will create awareness. That awareness will help prevent cool old grills from going into dumpsters, getting recycled, turned into planters, shot at, blown up, etc.

I can't open the original link, but I gather I'm just about to make some enemies!

I have 3 redhead 18's and a couple of black 22's that will serve out their days as planter boxes across my backyard. I think it's a fitting backdrop to my cookers, as well as being judicious use of resources. Why should I junk them, and then have to go out and buy plater boxes?

If it breathes, we can cook it!

There's no reason a plantered kettle can't be refurbed back into cooking shape. I'd offer to buy a red planter kettle if the price was right. That's assuming the porcelain enamel is intact and it's not all rusted to hell.

Look at this! You can plant an herb garden and the grill is still usable.

Reminds me a little of this.

Um, if I ever cooked on one of those... Let's just say it would remain my little secret. I would rather make a special trip to buy feminine hygiene products than be caught grilling on one of those!
