Title: Replacement part for my SS performer
Post by: crumbsnatcher on April 09, 2014, 04:44:25 PM
Hi guys...where can I get the replacement part for the burner tube bracket that is rusted in my picture?  I called Weber customer service and was told they only bundle this bracket with the burner tube assembly.

Yep, a "special part".
Looks like you'll have to cut the bolts off.
Then you could sand/grind off the rust, hit it with "Cold Galv" and re-install with SS hardware ?

Crumb how much did they say the burner tube assembly was going to cost? Curious as I may need one eventually.

put it in some evapo rust remover.  I just did this to the bracket and ash catcher bar.

Like everyone else said. Grind off the old bolts, sand the bracket, re-install with stainless bolts/nuts.

I've never understood why that piece wasn't made of SS.  With the heat that part can take, the plating quickly burns off, leaving the piece to rust like that.  Mine was the same way.

I'll give that a shot because my burner tube is still in fantastic shape.

If the burner tube is shot, just replace the whole unit. (Use SS hardware to install)

Weber quoted me $30 shipped for that assembly. I was just trying to avoid buying the entire assembly because my burner and igniter is still good.

Just cut off the old bolts.. Grind or sand it clean and re-install with SS nuts and bolts..
You could always put some high heat clear over ti, but I never felt the need.  8)
