Title: Some days the stars align in your favour (A bit pic heavy).
Post by: JayCee on October 14, 2013, 02:53:44 PM
After missing out on a Red MT earlier last week on Ebay, Kendoll kindly offered to sell me one of his at a good price. Since we had a work function on a few days later I decided to drive down to Sydney and kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak and collect the kettle. The trip is an hour and a half each way so needless to say I don’t make that journey by car very often, instead I usually catch the train.

Whilst having a glance on Gumtree I noticed an ad saying “free red Weber Kettle” collect in Sydney CBD. I rang the guy and he said it had been claimed so I asked him if he would consider me 2nd in line if the other person doesn’t come. He said to call him at 8:30pm (exactly when out=r function was ending) and he will let me know. I called him back and he said the other guy never showed so I could come and collect.

When I arrived a few minutes later I was pleasantly surprised to see it was a Red MT! Then he pulls out a genuine Weber cover and utensil holder. He even threw in some utensils.

So on my way home in my little Corolla laden with not one but 2 lovely Redheads (one sitting next to me on the passenger seat) I couldn’t help thinking what are the odds of a  free master touch appearing on Gumtree the only day I’ve driven down with a collection time exactly after our function finishing which was located less than a mile away? Here are a couple of pics.

The 2 Kettles I collected, both were coded EZ. The free one is on the left.

Now alongside my original MT on the right.

Some folks up here would absolutely fall over backwards if that happened here !!!!

M/T's are more prevalent in OZ, am I right?

Either way......grate double header !!!!

Yes it is, a small amount of cleaning and it will come up mint. Looking forward to giving them a good clean & polish soon.

No but I probably should have, mind you I definitely felt like I had won something that day.

Hard to say, you don't see too many on Ebay down here, mainly OTS's. I was very surprised when the second was an MT, particularly red.

OMG  :o  You killed kendoll for a red kettle! You guys down under are incredibly competitive! No wonder the other guy just gave his up with no questions asked.

Seriously, nice looking kettles! I like the red fade color and have an MT in that color. It's interesting to see the one in the middle has a fade that is much more subtle than the others. I wonder if they were running short of the darker color and were going a little light toward the end of the shift. ;)

For someone that stated not too long ago that they were happy with a one kettle collection, you sure have a lot of fucking kettles! :o

LOL! No I wouldn't threaten anyone over a Red MT. A lemon maybe  ;D

Yeah I wondered that as well, especially considering the 2 kettles on the left are a bit different yet they're both made in the same year. I guess the middle one is a Friday kettle.

Well if that's not the Smokey Joe calling the kettle black...

I can quit anytime I want *starts twitching*
