Title: Blue 18 OTG restore/customized
Post by: Chasing_smoke on August 19, 2013, 01:25:09 PM
The other night I posted a pick of my blue 18 in the show your pit thread. I wasn't super happy with the finished product, so I went back to correct it today.

Here's the first attempt

It's cool but the ash ring got lost under the grill.

Here's attempt two that I'm very happy with!

Hey, I really like that white! The hubcap goes well with the whitewalls.

Thanks guys! I'm really digging it. I went to lowes today and finally remembered I needed hubcaps as I had four bad ones on two grills. White was all they had in the correct size but I thought these are different and look cool. I used white bbq paint on the ring, it's not glossy but I dig the flat aspect of it. A few dark wooden Zandles and this one will pop for sure! I'm in love with the hinged grate, that little bit of extra cooking room makes a big difference on an 18.

Do we need a new rule that says you have to wear pants when you photograph a glossy kettle on a sunny day?  8)

Hahaha! The last photo does look like your pants are non-existant.

What I do with my kettles is my own business Marty! Although I hear kettle reflection take off at least 50lbs and adds three feet... Pretty soon the Midwest and east coast boys won't be in shorts anyway so enjoy those reflections 😛
