Wife anit happy but can you really ever keep them happy? she will get over it when I smoke a chicken and a venison roast (wrapped in bacon) in morning

Nice pickup, especially for that price! I love using mine.
What is the date code on the vent? Looks older with the wood handle....
If her unhappiness doesnt subside, I will gladly take the WSM off your hands :) good score!

EI is a 1997
That puppy is in awesome shape for being 16 years old. Congrats!
I'm firing up my WSM in an hour or so for an all night cook.
The elderly man I bought it from was off on his years he said he cooked on it once..which I would have to agree but he said his wife bought it new for him 5 or 6 years ago...its a 97 model..the grates had a thin layer of surface rust I used a wire wheel and plan on coating with olive oil and running for 30 minutes before throwing food on...any other suggestions?
Run over the grates with an SOS pad or steel wool then oil em up. For me, that's good enough and I use em right away.
Sweet WH.
My suggestion, put in charcoal and some meat...ASAP!
Let's see new $299 you paid $60....................Money for meat and beer..............Yeah. Great score
Did you find that in Wisconsin or Illinois?
Gotta think it was Illinois because CL WSMs usually don't escape my watchful eye.
Nice score on a GREAT smoker.
It's stories like this that get me outta bed in the morning. One day I will find a deal this great.

Cook some pork in it! The grease will help seal it up and keep the rust at bay.. 8)
Very nice. I need a WSM or two so my WSM mini does think he was adopted!
Your wife will be happy when she eats the food from it!
Awesome! :)
Really want one of those.
Nice score. I steel wooled the outside with dish soap, lightly scrubbed the grates with steel wool, and fired it up when I got mine on CL.
Anderson-
Have we seen pictures of that neat Sequoia-Like table in the background of your photos yet?
That's the green Bay table isn't it?
Yeah there's a picture of it some where. It's sweet enough to post again here.
Great score. Those are great cookers.
yes it was an IL find..it was under st Louis craigslist in Alton,IL....I think offering the guy an extra 15 was what got him to take it down so quick...I was quite surprised it didn't make it to the trading post like every other deal I try buying does. sorry to confuse everyone with my 2 cities... I just cant claim the state of IL(friends don't let friends move to IL lol) but the military tells me I have to live here but im separating from the military and moving back to WI the end of next month.

thought id share.... wife goes you are going to have to clean the kitchen up in order to get the meat ready for your new toy...I quickly reply that's why I built my grill table... her mouth just about hit the floor

Hahahahaha that is awesome!
Minus the FudgePackers logo that's a great table/cart/monster! Not much you can't do with that anderson. Go Bears!
Great score!
Congrats! What a score... I didn't even see that posted on CL. You were on that quick... great job!
Enjoy your WSM!

Congrats! I've missed two in the KC area lately. One for $100 and one for $75...both were 18.5's. I looked at a 22.5 in the store today and that thing is a beast...someday!!!
Anderson143....every now and then, the IL crew is not on their A game and that's when we can usually make our CL scores. A few years ago, I scored a brand new M code WSM for $60 from Chicago.
Nice score BTW. Looks just like mine, except my cover looks different. I have the old school cover that is made of thick and heavy duty vinyl.

Great score. It's super clean to be that old.
By now it's even 8 months older than the pics!
Wow good score.
