It would be cool to have specifics on when they used Jumbo Joe vs. Smokey Joe Platinum.

Speaking of the westerner, Do we know if it was only offered in22?
Also, do you want to add the various models hat were called "custom" to the list?

Weber stopped naming the grills according to some sources by 1980. The 1977-78 catalog that Hogsy posted here last week the kettles have no names but the still did in 1973-74.
BTW Lime was "The Gardner" not sure if that was the name of the 18 or 22 and what the other name for the opposite size lime kettle would have been. Awesome job compiling the color names. Duke, we're getting closer to that "color wheel" we've been talking about.

Updated. Thanks. I tried googling around for lime+weber+grill+gardener to try to find out the other size name if there was one, but nothing came up. :-\
Added some more kettles under custom...info from: http://weberkettleclub.com/c-history/
Cool! The C-history is a work in progress I'm working on (need to get my butt in gear) to finish.. for the age page here. I've got a couple updates for it I need to do. One of the updates is dark blue and dark green came out in 1978 not 1979 as previously believed (Dark blue 1978-2013) green still being made. Theres other amendments but this is one is close it just needs some minor tweaks and visuals. I'm told this draft can be found on google because someone else here had found it sometime back.
Lets add the flamenco under custom
Maxbo, there were a few kettles named "Custom" apart from the wishing well/seville/ranger etc. that you are listing. I think you may want to give those a different heading title.
Here is one:
I love that it identifies the grill as Harvest Orange in color.
In addition to this "Cuts of Meat Custom" there were a couple kettles that were "marbled or crazed" that were called "Custom". I will go find pictures of those as well.
According to Craig, this "Custom" is from 1956:
I recall thatthere were basically two of these. One with white lines and the other with yellow. They were both called "The Custom".
Also, back to the Westerner:
This page is from the 1968 catalog according to Craig. It shows the Westerner offered in 26. Was the westerner only 26 then?
Westerner was only available in 26" ;) In fact it should have been Weber's first 26"er in 1958.

Say, Jeff. Can you ask ed if there is anything stamped on that top vent .....?
Updated with some of the new stuff.
What is "The Flamenco"? I've never heard of it.

He said his top vent is stamped, "Weber Stephens". That's it.
This is excellent! It would be cool to add in the date range the names were used, like you have in the last paragrap/section.

Its a Smokey Joe that is centered in a round metal table. Its fit in the table as a normal kettle like the Seville would fit into its cart. You can see a photo of it in the Weber Timeline PDF
Updated with the Flamenco, and the three different "The Custom" kettles. Added Hunters' Pink to the Red AKA.
Questions, what size were the yellow and white marbled kettles? Are those both 18's?
I know the majority of the names for the Avocado, Red, Jet Black, etc were around in 1973, but is there any evidence of them being named earlier? And when did they stop. Around '79?
Also, what about the sizes available for: The Penthouse, The Ranger, The Wishing Well, The Seville, and The Imperial Sequoia.
All the Imperials, Rangers and Sevilles were 22s right?
The marbled or "crazed" kettles were available in 18 and 22. They predate the red kettles I have recently found out.
There are more names. I took pictures of a catalog Reillyranch had and there are older grills with more names. I know there is a pastel yellow.... there might be a name for the silver 26 that came out in 1962...

Okay I just looked.... It is described as a yellow ochre color and it's called the ambassador. All the grills are described as 22 3/4 too...

Is this the elusive pastel 22.5 (22.75) yellow kettle from the 1962 catalog?
Oh and got photos? :)
Maxbobcat, not sure if you want to add it but the cuts of meat custom was circa 1968, FWIW.

Good eye! I don't think the years are correct, though unless they switched the vent position in '63.
updated with the ambassador...it's yellow ochre
Yellow Ochre...what an interesting name. Had to look it up.
Ochre (/ˈoʊkər/ OH-kər; from Greek: ὠχρός, ōkhrós, (pale yellow, pale), also spelled ocher) is a natural earth pigment containing hydrated iron oxide, which ranges in color from yellow to deep orange or brown. It is also the name of the colors produced by this pigment, especially a light brownish-yellow.[1][2] A variant of ochre containing a large amount of hematite, or dehydrated iron oxide, has a reddish tint known as "red ochre".
Ochre and the earth pigments
Ochre is a family of earth pigments, which includes yellow ochre, red ochre, purple ochre, sienna, and umber. The major ingredient of all the ochres is iron (III) oxide, known as limonite, which gives them a yellow color.
Yellow ochre, Fe2O3 • H2O, is a hydrated iron oxide (limonite) also called Gold ochre
Red ochre, Fe2O3, takes its reddish color from the mineral hematite, which is an anhydrous iron oxide.
Purple ochre, is identical to red ochre chemically but of a different hue caused by different light diffraction properties associated with a greater average particle size.
Brown ochre (goethite), is a partly hydrated iron oxide.
Sienna contains both limonite and a small amount of manganese oxide (less than five percent), which mades it darker than ochre.
Umber pigments contain a larger proportion of manganese (five to twenty percent) which make them a dark brown.[3]
When natural sienna and umber pigments are heated, they are dehydrated and some of the limonite is transformed into haematite, giving them more reddish colors, called burnt sienna and burnt umber.
Ochres are non-toxic, and can be used to make an oil paint that dries quickly and covers surfaces thoroughly.
Modern ochre pigments often are made using synthetic iron oxide. Pigments which use natural ochre pigments indicate it with the name PY-43 (Pigment yellow 43) on the label, following the Color Index International system.
Nice pictures! First time I've seen the Ambassador close up! What color is that 'Plainsman'? Is it the two tone grey? Plus notice the Plainsman's vent/handle position is in the "current" configuration and its the only one of the three that has the regular twist style ash catcher.....no clips like on the Ambassador yellow and the Imperial blue

bump...
Anybody found anything to add to the list?
Anybody ever seen a list of nicknames for the blue kettles in any of the catalogs? Seems the bluies just came too late to ever get a nickname.
Has anybody found any old catalogs with the the Lime name "The Gardener" in them? For 18 or 22, or both?
Thanks
Updated original post with The Gardner and The Fairway.
