Title: Weber Fireplace (Firepit) Cleanup
Post by: bamakettles on February 26, 2023, 11:04:04 AM
Finally got around to working on this yard sale fire pit I picked up last year.  Mid section is missing which is fine - I hate the rust removal process for those - but the rest is in good shape and the heat pan is there which was more important to me.  Drilled out all the rusty bolts, gave it a good sos pad detail, knocked off some of the rust on the legs, straightened out the pan and reassembled with all SS hardware and some handles I had in the drawer.  This one will be used but I'll not put the lid on while it's hot - the handles would not survive I imagine.  Fun little project while cooking some Q....

Wish they would re-release these or I could find one. They're pretty cool.

Very nice.  Agree that it would nice Weber ran another lot of them.

Will you be using any type of grate to set the wood on, or does it just get into pit as is?

Original Weber instructions tell you to put sand in the bottom.  I may do that, we'll see.

Thanks!  I've got a nice one inside that I've never used, but plan on putting this one to the test.
