Title: Help gen 1 performer restoration!
Post by: slimmdunkin on April 21, 2022, 12:43:08 PM
Need some assistance on a couple of restoration on gen 1 ssp.  Do I need to modify the handle in order to put new one on?  Also, can I leave the gas assist burner off when restoring or do I need to fill the hole in with metal bondo or such?

There are several SSP restoration threads on this site.  Look at some of those.  As for the handle, is the original detached?   Also, do you intend on keeping gas assist?

What color is the bowl, and where are you located?
I would suggest trading bowls with someone if you
do not want to continue on with the bowl you have
being used as it was designed for.

Your best bet is to find another bowl.  Then attach the bowl to the frame.  If you go the patch route, quick steel makes an extreme heat epoxy.

Here is what I did to plug the gas tube hole on my Performer.  It is a knockout plug for electrical boxes by Gardner Bender.
