Grabbed this one from Weber's FB page. I don't think many of us have a profile, or check in very often. They mentioned this was the first evidence of Weber announcing the concept of covered cooking. If true - I'm glad they found this. Three colors mentioned too. I'll take a marbelized please! Interesting rack next to the kettle (on the left). Wonder if that was a Weber product.

Very cool! So in 1958, there were three color/finish options and red was not there yet... Hmmmm like I always say, we're learning something new! Marbled would be cool!
That side table I believe is a Weber. I've got a pic of one on my computer I will pull up later.
Awesome.
"marbled" is certainly the custom right?

I think so. :)
Covered, damper-controlled cooking.....IF YOU PLEASE !!!!
I smell an all-timer tagline, right here in this post.............. 8)
I wonder if the tongs with the rounded ends hanging over on the side are early versions of the ones Weber sold later?

I'm guessing this is the same side table and color grill pictured above..

Can you ever imagine cooking that much food on a single kettle?
It would be fun to clean too.
What does the 'marbled' look like?

That's a pre 1956 because of the vent position yeah?
I don't think its pre 56 if I'm not mistaken pre 56 were buoys and mine is in that position

Damn it, that marbled is now my holy grail grill.. Great ad though, gotta love him for wearing the covered barbeque apron.
"my kettle is more powerful it will do almost anything."
Gummi:
The vent position as seen on Zorks '56 Chicago, one of Harris' '58 Wood Dales and the one in the cooking show picture are how the vents were positioned on the 22's until around 1960-62 or so. Then they moved the vent to the side of the handle like it is today. Weber's FB page dates this pic as 1968, but why would Weber have used a then 10-11 year old kettle on a cooking show... Not to mention the woman is dressed very 50s even for 1968.. I think someone typo'd the year.
Edit: TV camera says WCCO... A Twin Cities area CBS affiliate. I wanted to figure out where the picture was taken.
Just checked FB, and they say it's from 58. Where did you see 68?

Ah... They corrected it then. Back when I saved the photo to my computer last year it was dated '68. 1958 makes much more sense.
