Title: Performer Gas Assist Burner Tube Material?

Does anyone happen to know what material the Performer Gas Assist Burner Tube is made of?  I presume stainless.  What grade?  Has the material changed over the years?

Looks like 304 before 2010 and  430 for newer versions 430.

Do you have any pics of this or tips?  I'm looking to fabricate one.


What size/type pipe?  .75" copper plumbing pipe?


How did you cut and size the air inlets? 


Did you re-create the dimples in the pipe?


What did you do at the burner end, what shape did you use?  Did you mimic stock?


How does it work compared to stock?


Any detailed pics you would share?


Sorry for all the questions. I'm looking to do this. Do you happen to have a thread about it?

Sorry no thread  pics were lost  folded copper pipe I've at the end cut slots with cutting wheel, heated pipe with torch then dimpled with vise grip c-clamp ,my copper pipe was slightly smaller than gas fitting split it and attached with a hose clamp

Thanks.  I'll play around with this.  Tried an open pipe last night.  I really like the flame that came out.

Did you have inlets at the gas inlet end and did you create the dimples in the side?

I mimicked stock , made it longer that stock so it reaches to the center of the grill

Yes to dimples and the air inlets where the gas comes in

Sweet, thanks.  I am aiming for longer as well.

Any idea what function the dimples provide?  I presume some turbulence before the igniter.
