Started trying to make a couple handles today so I can give my buddy this kettle I'm fixing up.
The little channel on the bottom part is pretty difficult, and I went a little far with one hole. Ended up throwing it on my chimney.

I need better tools, maybe a table saw would cut that notch for the bottom piece? Maybe cut a flat edge on my board then run the whole length of the board and cut the pieces out of that. I stabbed myself in the thumb with the chisel. Lol. It still looks better than the plastic one, and it matches my cold smoker handles.

I stuck a piece of twig in the hole I drilled through, and polyed it in.

You used the square file to do the recessed area on the bottom? Or the Dremel? Either way doesnt sound fun. Lol. I cut the lines with a razor and tried to chisel it out, a bench vise or something would have helped.

Left the bottom attached to the board while I chiseled out the notch on this one. Worked way better. Used a grinder to shape the bottom. This one turned out better. I used a lid handle that fell of one of my kettles to hold it. While I shaped and sanded.

These came out a lot better. I did drill thru the bottom of one after I had it pretty much done. I wasn't really happy about it lol

I saved a couple logs of walnut that I cut down. I thought about trying to hack a section out of one. I think walnut would look really good on lighter colored kettles. I might try some on my weathered warrior

Very nice! I saw a green performer on Craigslist, but I can't spend performer money right now. I've been buying 5-10 dollar kettles lol. Grabbed an 18" thats super beat up, and an A code that really isnt too bad, does need a leg socket fixed.
