Title: CB Door + Gasket
Post by: ClubChapin on February 28, 2019, 06:24:01 PM
i just bought a CB door.  I don't think it comes with a gasket. Should I add a Nomex gasket?  How well does it work without the gasket?  The OEM door fits pretty well, but leaks pretty heavily.

Did you buy the compression latch?

My old 18 WSM's sealed very well with just the latch, CB door, and zero Nomex. My current 22 has Nomex around the door and it works well with the stock door. I know some people have had issues with the CB door on the 22.

Without serious modification you aren't going to completely seal a WSM.

I did get the compression latch. Will try without nomex I guess.

Do you think nomex would fit, if needed?

This is a 22"

If the door fits well no nomex is needed. My CB didn't fit well initially, but I reshaped it a bit using a paint can and it fit great with no leaks.

I don't think a gasket would fit on my 18. Don't know about a 22. It would hinder the doors operation imo.  My 18 runs tight enough with the door that it will shut down like a kettle. It wouldn't shut down at all with the stock door.

I didn't have any problems with leakage on the two that I used, but I could've just been lucky.  I agree that, even though it's a heavier guage metal, you should be able to massage it a little if needed.

I just installed it and wow looks sweet.  But message them because I had a lil leak but he told me how to fix it and it's all good now
