We decided to spend a few days of our fall break vacation in Memphis, TN. While I'm from Chicago and live in Indiana, my mom was born and raised in Memphis. I consider myself half southern 
I spent many a summer vacation there and it's also where I learned to love bbq. There are more bbq restaurants in Memphis than anywhere in the US.

I love blues too, so Beale street was another spot.

We finished our trip heading a bit more south in Clarksdale, Mississippi, home of the delta Blues Museum.

We ate lunch in a great bbq joint in Clarksdale called Abe's bbq, which is next to the "crossroads," made famous by Robert Johnson. Great day, great music, great bbq. Looks like a great trip! That sandwich looks incredible too. What was your families favorite bbq place out of the ones you ate at?

Memphis is where I was born and raised till about two years ago. There are a lot of hidden bbq joints all over the metro area and outside the metro area. Great place, miss the food and music. But it's a very violent city. Be careful when out and about.
