Title: 1940’s lodge 8” chicken fryer
Post by: HoosierKettle on October 08, 2018, 07:08:44 PM
Sadly, my mother in law passed away in July. We have been cleaning the house out which was her parents house as well. A very small World War II era house. I rescued this buried in the garage and restored it yesterday. We also have a 1940's era kitchen table. I wish it were under better circumstances but I plan on being a good steward of some of these family items.
I could be wrong on the date. Feel free to correct me if you know.

The picture doesn't do the inside justice. It's splotchy looking from the seasoning but it's not pitted at all.

I think you are close on the age, lodge 3 notch fryer is a sweet piece of equipment, and now in your hands. I would consider it a family heirloom that needs to fry up some chicken

I have one of these without the lid...you'll enjoy it.  I use it for making donuts...

You know I wasn't going to wait long for some chicken!  Frying up some wings for the first cook.

I started off planning on cooking 5 wings as a test and I ended up cooking 4 batches. 50 total. I can't help it sometimes.

I rinsed and dusted with Tony's and deep fried then dunked each one in a sauce that was franks butter Worcestershire and honey.
