Title: Cowboy brand Charcoal briquettes
Post by: au4stree on April 25, 2018, 05:27:34 PM
Anyone got experience with this brand?  I never liked their lump, too much random crap in it. But am willing to try anything once.

I have the lump... I have found screws, rocks, and nails. I WILL not buy Cowboy charcoal again, but that's me. I know people that have found objects in the bag and still use it, I just won't use it again.

Same company that makes Stubbs so probably the same as Stubbs. I haven't used either and probably never will as long as I can get weber at a good price or ro briqs. I was always a diehard kbb fan but I probably won't buy anymore. It's just too much ash on a long cook.

Think of it like Cracker Jack. Half the fun is finding the "surprise" inside. 8)

Them modern day cowboys are tough! It's gonna take a lot more than screws, rocks, and nails to stop them from firin' up the grill for a good 'ole fashion country western bbq!

Let alone the lack of quality of the lump, you're PAYING for that debris they are using for weight! I would not trust  the briqs...

Throw Frontier in the group as well.

I've used the Weber briqs on numerous cooks, that stuff is legit.  It works well on long cooks and burns consistent. It'll get hot too when needed. Price was a hinderance before, but no more.

This is hilarious, we should start a new thread, maybe go with @darko's theme....
"Cracker Jack" charcoal thread...what's the craziest thing you found in your charcoal bag?

I used to always find about 3 small stones in the bottom of the grill. I was nearly convinced my next door neighbor was doing that as a prank. He was not above tossing weird random shit at me when I was outside doing something.

When I realized I was paying for them, and that I was being pranked by the company, I stopped buying. Oh, and I also moved to another state.

Took me 5 states to settle in... Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, New Jersey, and finally DelaWhere. Now I just have to figure out my state of mind... :)

It looks like Stubb's charcoal has just been rebranded.

Read this from cowboycharcoal.com --> Cowboy Fact Sheet (http://www.cowboycharcoal.com/cowboy-fact-sheet/)

Stubb's briquettes were my go-to, until I secured a large amount of Weber briquettes at last years Target clearance sale.
