Title: Battered & Beaten Blue 18 OTG
Post by: Firemunkee on March 31, 2018, 08:20:26 PM
The story is here http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/index.php?topic=36155.0

It was in way worse condition than I expected :( Scratches and rust everywhere. The entire lid has major rim rash. Bowl is super beaten. It looks like it was always in rough fights and lost all the time.  The good news is the lid vent seal is not affected by the dent and the lid itself fits on super snug  (not sure if that's because something is bent) which makes a very tight seal.

This is my first 18 and first blue. I really like the size and color but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. I need to sleep on it. I just need sleep in general right now haha

Man that thing has been rode hard. The bowl piks look like there is some fiberglass reinforcement under the porcelain? Never seen that before

Congrats on getting that blue it's definitely had a hard life. Check the sweeps they're more than likely SS. Keep this as a parts grill for a more deserving 18" that's sure to pop up now.

Looks like it would make an excellent primary go-to cooker. It's been weathered beyond normal wear and tear, battered and covered with battle scars. On the plus side, it has the old style channeled ash catcher & pan. It's solid and has plenty of life left in it for many cooks to come. The only thing that would need changing is the cooking and charcoal grates. Congrats!

Yeah I really like that it is a OTG. I think that's what should me on it when I saw there listing. There cooking grate is less than a year old and it is the flip up kind! They're in good condition so just a basic cleaning by fire and they will be good to go!

Some acquisitions are tougher than others and you fought the good fight for this one.

Cook a delicious meal on that bastid and don't worry. That's the kind of machine you won't care whatever washers, bolts, screws and duct tape is necessary keep the dogs and burgers comin'.
