Couple of questions for you folks with Slow N'Sears.
Have you used it with sand instead of water? What about running the water tank empty (so it is just a barrier - maybe make a small foil lid to somewhat seal in the air)? Seems like lower maintenance if you skip the water. I do that with myvWSM - water pan is filled with sand.
Those of you that have both a 22" and a 26"kettle, did you just buy the one for the 22 and use it for both? I have a performer with baskets and find that adequate but have a 26 on the brain for the Christmas list and can appreciate that the OEM baskets are smallish for a 26.
There is no issue with running the water tank empty.

Sure but what i wonder is if it would make for more stable and evenly distributed temps when filled with sand.
It'd be cool to see an SnS for CGA's.

Probably not, but I haven't tested it.

Completely agreed and you just inspired a new idea.... that Weber is rectangular so i am thinking that a brick laid on its long side and placed between the cooking grates might to the trick there. It may need to be cut to fit. Ha! Now I might just try that.
If you want better temp distribution, get the matching drip n griddle. Awesome job even with cooking and keeping grease from your lower bowl.

I use the original 22 SnS in my 26er. That was the only one available when I got mine.
I wouldn't mind having the one with the grate in the bottom, but I doubt that I'd go with the one made for the 26er. I don't see the need. With the smaller unit you get a little more real estate and I don't mind adding fuel a little more often than I would with bigger unit.
I've run it both with and without water without any issues.
I'll be doing a couple of racks of St. Louis later this afternoon. I do use foil in the bottom to assist with clean-up.
