Title: SS performer hardware
Post by: Mkrause on June 07, 2017, 05:45:17 AM
Getting ready to clean up the performer that LightningBoldtz picked up for me from zavod. Does anyone know how the lower square tubing for the shelf support is secured to the frame? I see the bolts on the outside of the perpendicular supports but what do they thread into inside the tubing? They are loose...

It's held together with star nuts. Lots of bike stores carry them.

This should help:

otherwise you can purchase a threaded rod so it goes the entire length of the tube and secure with lock nuts on each end. Permanent fix and will never loosen.

The star nuts in the cross frame member are rusted out.

Use star nuts to replace the rusted ones.

Id recommend replacing the bolts with ss bolts to help mitigate rusting in the future...that said the star nuts are not ss...but ss bolts will help

I think this one will work to. But I haven't had anyone confirm it works with SSP

And i did end up doing the threaded rod. Used 3/8", had to drill out the holes a little and it was a little tricky getting it lined up perfectly but definitely solid. I used stainless cap nuts and washers with loctite. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170610/8da6f5fa7c391fd01117c2e33385a403.jpg)
