Title: clear coat

anyone just mask off the lightly rusted areas like chip, ding and the handle mounting locations and just use high hear clear? if so how did it work?

I always treated rusty areas with vegetable oil. Never had a rust through.

Pretty much both eventually. You're better off just using oil.
