Just got my ash sweeps in today. I'm attaching these to the older style ring. Was told to do away with the h washer and it will work. Question is , how to secure the arm ? Maybe tack weld it ? New at this ! TIA (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170125/91499895479d5c594a9f16334b538978.jpg)

You can use hose clamp method and let go the middle bar. I did this on my recent restore of redhead and it's holding strongly the ring.

Ditto on the hose clamp method. Same setup on this guy:(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170125/b7de7ded067119bbba218811ac9b6c52.jpg)

I did hose clamps and kept the H washer on the setup. It can be done.

The crossbar will take up the space that the washer does, so the handle will still lock into place.
