I've always loved the Weber Go Anywhere. It's versatile, portable, efficient, and IMHO very under-rated.
I regularly grill steak or fish for a family of 5 on mine and wouldn't be without one.
So let's see pictures of your GA's. I'll start with my first: N code NOS score from a yard sale $20 a few years ago, complete with Zavod handles

I still have one that I bought in 1979. Back then Weber called them Table Top Grills. My is black. I still use for tailgating. They are great little grills.
I used to do a lot of trade shows back then. In order to build traffic in my exhibits, I would have visitors register to win a table top grill. I'd buy from the Weber distributor and drop ship to the winners.
That blue is gorgeous.

Stunning
Agreed, the GA is definitely an underrated grill. Here's mine, the gas version, it was my first Weber, a wedding gift from my sister.

Interesting photo @harris92 , is the newer red slightly larger than the older chocolate?
The handles on the red in a slightly different position (higher up).

This is speculation on my part but it's possible that they made the bowl taller to accommodate propane model's burners.

Get one. I just got a gas ga and didn't have any room or really have any need for it but I love it. I'm also on the lookout for the charcoal version. I've never been that big of fan of the sj for a small portable grill but I like these because of the compact way they store and transport.

Some beautiful GA's here. The colors drive me crazy as I've only seen them in pictures & never in stores. Where do you find them? I own a black & would love to have a blue or a red. Weber anything is rare in the part of TX I'm livin in & hardly ever on CL within a 4-5 hr drive. Maybe someday.

Hi all :D
I was lucky enough to pick up this GGA recently.
Going by 'The One. The Only.' handles and angled lid hooks I've been told it may be a 1983 C code.
When comparing with my other GGAs there's a couple of abnormalities.... no ignitor, no flavorizer and it came with a charcoal grate that has a 'drip pad' which looks to be a genuine part.
Is this a bastardized GGA or an example of an early model? Any info would be appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the GA but they look intriguing for camping, etc. One question about the lid....does it have "hangers" in it so it hangs off the back of the grill like that or are those just leaning up against the back of the grill? Hard to tell from the pictures.

A JJ will give you more real estate.
A *GASP* Q 1200 will be most convenient.
Note: the lid hangers on the older GA's are angled whereas the newer GA's lid hangers are straight. The angled hangers don't play nice with CI Craycorts.

The original short leg models came with the side vents flipped the opposite way like the brown one has them. To open you raised them rather than lowered them.

@Heyjude Weber introduced the Black, brown and red in the USA in the seventies.
@captjoe06 That GA is a transition year. It has the old handles with a single screw when they had done away with the rivets. Yet it still has the short legs. First I have see. Very cool!

Great grills for the mid week cook up. The Blue and Blacks were the only ones I found in Australia with the other 3 colours from the States.

it's been over a year now and I still haven't had a chance to do a full resto!
I've trawled these forums but can't find another Red 'A' code GA.
All the Reds I have seen are 'Snap-On' ones. Are there any other original Reds out there?

query...can you still get the GA gasser? me thinks I'd love one of those, if available!
and while we're on the subject of gassers...were there ever any kettle gassers made?
edit - ahhh...it's a US only thing, not available in Canada. I'll dig around, but perhaps I can work out a deal with someone to buy n ship me one?

I've only been a weber addict for a very short time now. But I've been checking the local sales places and have yet to see a colored CGA for sale! I know it'll happen eventually, just looking forward to it :) Just would love to have something besides black! (Although I'm sure I'll have black as well hahaha)
Colored GAs seem to be somewhat hard to find. I believe they were were common or occasionally sold overseas and those that have spares tend to hold them for good trades. I believe there were some sold stateside, but I am not sure what colors they were. If you ever find a non black GA for a reasonable amount I would grab it.

what's the advantage of a CGA over a Smokey Joe or even a Jumbo Joe? they're all tiny...
Portability and charcoal efficiency.
Plus you can pack a chimney, coals tools and other items inside

Do you have a picture, or thread reference, of packing all that in a CGA? I remember reading about it here but couldn't find it. I've taken my CGA on two trips and couldn't figure out how to fit the mini chimney in there, and that was without the cooking grate.

I want one, and a matching 18" kettle...
Argh, now you guys have me wanting one!
Are there any differences in reliability or functionality between the new and vintage CGAs?
They only sell new GAs in black now, right? How much should I expect to spend to get a vintage one in good (but cooked-in) condition in a non-black color?

Wow nice! A lemon and a lime to make cocktails with the bitters!
Did you paint that bright neon green yourself or is that a Weber color?
@Dave in KC picked up this CGA for me a couple weeks ago and met me about halfway between our houses. Thanks again! I had hoped to have it cleaned up with the Marlboro handles I refinished on it by now, but ive been lazy.
@ReanimatedRobot sent me a link to some camping gear with a Marlboro GGA the other day, and I asked the seller if they would sell just the grill. They said yes so I said how much? 20? And they said 25. And they would hold it for me since my kids were sick and I was willing to drive an hour to get it. It is in great shape, and came with 3 bottles of gas. I will post more when I get these handles done, and the other handles on the CGA.
And I think I got the other Marlboro handles from

Just picked up this open box buy for $20 - it's an 85 G code. Super clean, there was a little light surface rust on the charcoal grate but other than that she's clean as can be.

Here's my newest. I picked it up this morning, brought it home and did a clean-up. I reinstalled the side dampers the right way. I still have a little more cleaning to do. G code Snap-on.

A quick look on ebay and noticed a twin rivet in a listing saying offers. I threw an offer I was happy with knowing what shipping would cost already and it came back saying pay now. I paid and then asked what the code was in which the reply was an "A" (Birth code). I finally got around to cleaning it up and noticed the side handles were both upside which I have never seen before. Internally it looked like it was used a few times and never cleaned out and externally a quick scrub showing 1 small mark on it.

One could only wish to get one of those LOL
My colored boxes for now. Red and DOB are original Weber, yellow and Glen blue are the awesome work of IPE. Would love to find a nice brown shorty one day.

After seeing 4 brownies come through my yard, how could I leave a "Lid only" sale alone. It's a very slim chance of finding a base in a similar fashion, but you never know.
