Hey everyone, new to WKC, so still learning things as I go. Enough with that, picked up a MBH "Patent Pending" over the weekend with the full intention of restoring it for a keeper, gift or re-sale... not sure on that. Couple questions right off the bat, would love to get some opinions.
0) Age guide.... I think this is a 1969 or 1970... Can anyone help me determine exactly or is it best guess at this point?
1) Missing 1 wheel cap for the wheel assembly. One wheel held on by a cotter pin. Where can I find one?
2) What is sac-religious when it comes to restoring these? What will lower the value or would you consider too far? As you can see it's in pretty good shape, and has all the parts. New handle obviously and full resto cleanup will be done first. Then???
Ok that's enough, for now. Thanks for the help everyone!

First, hello and welcome.
Secondly, looks like you found a nice redhead there. Correct on the age.
Price wise, they are worth different prices in different areas.
Hang onto it. Enjoy it.

Ohhh that's purty !!! ....yes 69-70 for sure. One of the experts here might be able to nail it dwn further. Vents etc are same as my red Seville which is 69-70.
Nice pick up!!
I agree with
@Travis. Clean her up and keep it. Looks great and welcome :)
looking good all ready
@JordanW Hell of a good first post welcome from Melrose Park, IL!
That red is in very nice shape!
Age - Agreed 69-70', Price? I myself would not sell it (My wife would if I was not home) but I would not I would use as a cooker. If you did want to sell the red, it is only worth what someone will pay for it ;).
As for "What is sac-religious when it comes to restoring these?" Are you keeping her? If so its yours! Do what you will with her, and if you think you screwed-up really really bad, Just don't tell us! JK! If you ever need any help we have a ton of members that can help you out!
Have fun with the Resto and Keep Grilling!
Nice grill.
The biggest problem you're going to have is finding the twist ash pan that appears to be missing. They're getting hard to come by.
You can get the hubcaps anywhere such as:
https://www.amazon.com/Weber-3622-Hubcaps/dp/B00023CWSI

I like restoring close to original myself with lots of shine, but your grill, your call.
Have fun
What a beauty. I have a wheel cap if you want it. Send me a pm
And I will send it.
Just finished her up today. My first one and learned a lot. More to come. Thanks to all of you for advice / opinion / help. Appreciate it. Happy Holiday's 8)

Beauty of a clean up. I just restored a 99 redhead
Keep it! That's a beauty! I've been at this a couple years now, and yet to find something that nice.
That looks real nice.
That's really nice. You should be proud.

You did a really really great job. Congratulations. She's beautiful.
Wow, that cleaned up really nice....but then again most of them do. It's always so fun cleaning up a dirty grill when you first get it. It never gets old seeing how well these things clean up. Awesome that you have the ash pan.
@AZ Monsoon can give you some guidance and getting it to a mirrored finish, as well as your lid vent. Great work!!!!!
@JordanW- Congratulations on your score and nice job on the clean up. If your interested in adding your restoration, here is a link to a topic
@56MPG (Marty) started for members to share "before" and "after" pictures of their restorations.

She's a beauty! Nice restore!
Great job on the restore and welcome to the WKC. What's your first cook going to be?
@Neil_VT00 For this one, I was thinking about taking it over to the park across from my house and doing a traditional burgers and hot dogs picnic for my family. Classic nostalgia style.
