I'm anxious to try out my newly acquired "used" 18.5 WSM. I bought a 9.5lb. Brisket and it's going in tomorrow morning. Any info on how long I might be able to get out of full bag of unlit Kingsford using about 1/3 lit in minion method? From what I've read, it looks like I should expect about 45 min. Per pound or about 7 hrs if I can hold about 225 degrees. Will the full bag last for a cook that long?
Are you using water in the water pan? Outside temp? Sitting in the sun or shade? Windy or not windy? Humidity level? There are so many factors.

Guy I bought it from gave me pan full of ceramic briquettes so I'm going to try them in pan with foil on top. WSM will be in sun if it's not raining (fingers crossed). Humidity will be pretty Hugh here in. FL, temp predicted to be low 90's.
Even with all those factors, you'll get well over 7 hours. Not sure the brisket will be done in 7hrs though. I usually get 11+ from a full load. Won't be a full time 19lb bag.
Where in FL?
Crawfordville. How long should I anticipate for brisket? Plan to get it in the WSM before 7am.
It's ready, when it's ready. 7am should have it ready for an early dinner. Figure about an hour from waking up, to meat on the grill.

Cool man, I'm over in Tallahassee.
How was your run time? What was your cook time?
I cooked for 8 hrs. Had plenty of fuel left over. I couldn't get the temp lower than 250 the entire time. I noticed fuel door had decent leak. I am considering upgrading to a Cajun Bandit door.
Your door will seal up with some seasoning. Run a few chickens though it. They are cheap, messy and delicious. And they go fast. 2-3 hours.
