Title: My Chicago Yellow
Post by: DonoBBQ on July 31, 2016, 01:45:33 PM
So a few weeks ago a yellow became available in Chicagoland.  I got lucky enough to snag it.  Well it took a few connections of friends from the area but I brought it home today,  sadly it's not quite as pristine as I hoped but it may clean up nice. The legs are pretty solid so that's a nice change. I figured it's mid 70's but haven't nailed down a year. Very nice. Congratulations. May I suggest a Mahogany or Rosewood handle.

Congrats. Your kettle has good bones. You'd be surprised how much of that rust stain you can remove.

That's a sweet yellow! That looks like a '73-'74 with those wheels and small bowl tabs.

Thanks guys,  looking forward to seeing how well it cleans up! I planned on flipping it (that's what I told the wife) but once I get it cleaned up,  who knows!

Man, that's nice! If you plan on flipping it, I'll throw my name in the hat! I remember that one!

Very, very, nice.  That is one of the MustHaveKettles for many of the WKC membership.  My suggestion is carefully clean it, and then put it in the house on a pedestal.

Ill be honest, this kettle deserves a better stable than mine. Im still pretty new in the game plus I have a small back porch so I'll probably be looking to trade it off.  My dream kettle is an ivory but im not sure this is of equal value restored.  Maybe ill bring it with this weekend so I can get some professional opinions on waht I should do with it.

And if you're getting a new handle have Brian hit you up with some whitewall decals with the same order.
