Title: Sweet Saturday afternoon score
Post by: Jeepin79 on July 23, 2016, 03:18:57 PM
We are at our camp site that we go to and someone posted in the camp site page a couple freebies,  don't need either but for free could not pass them up.  The grill is a DA code that will clean up fine.  The tater ring has some rust on it so I don't know if it can be salvaged.

That C&T ring has plenty of life left in it.  Clean the pokers, with some steel wool, if the rust really bothers you.

That's my plan.  Give them both a good cleaning and see what I have then.

You're gonna love that C&T whether it's shiny, or weathered (pun intended).

They were definitely priced right.

I get the tater part of it but how does the corn work?  The same way, shove it on one of the pegs and let it cook?

Same way. Just cut the bottom about a 1/2" from the ear.  Lid might rest on the cobs & not seal fully if the ears are really big, but that'll allow the heat to vent past 'em.

So leave them in the husk or peel them.

I don't even pull the silks. When done, I'll cut the bottom 1/2" off the ear, then it slides out with most of the silk.

Yeah, cool find, for sure! Wish I could get that lucky. Mostly what I find at campgrounds are used latex gloves... JUst kiddin.

Yes both were free.  Thinking about selling the ring, don't know that it's something I would use much.  Figure it's worth some decent money.
