Not sure if I'd consider it a rescue since I paid for it but it'll look a whole lot better when I'm finished with it!

So from everything I've read it seems to be a 78' model  maybe someone else can chime in that has more knowledge than me!
Also,  are the legs simply pressed in? I wanna start rehabbing it but don't want to screw anything up in the process.

Congrats. Great find.

Yes, the legs are just pressed it. There is a dimple on the leg socket that keeps them in place. Take your time and they should come out pretty easy.

Thanks Neil!  I'm pretty excited about doing this.  So is my guess correct?  Is it a 78?

Nice Score!  That is 78 for sure.

76-77 had flat WEBER logo on the lid vent.  Embossed WEBER logo started in 78 with pat. #.  79 started with letter designation. So A is 79.

If you had metal wheels or single tab bowl vents or metal lid handle... than it gets little more complicated.

Nice find!
I've been keeping an eye out for that exact same kettle for a while. It should clean up really nice and make a great cooker.

That's nice! Post in the trade site that you're looking for an ash catcher.
