you guys have any alternatives for probe clips?
I managed to hold on to, and re-use the original mav 732 clip that i've had for about 6 years
at one point I even had about 8 of them from other various products that I tested
And now....
now they're all gone.
And I need some. 6 to be exact.
Small potatos, onions, Red Bull can - are alternatives that I have used.
I use some left over expanded metal. It's just a small piece folded enough to let it balance on the grate and hold the probe.
Frankly it's kind of a PITA because you have to balance the probe and little pice of expanded metal.
Before that I used a ball of aluminum foil, also a PITA.
I guess I don't know the best way...
Try the Swiss mod Troy. This one has 14 but you could do 20. One of them has 12" probe for the meat temp but you could do 6 easy.

2 for $5.00 from Maverick. They'd probably cut you a deal on six of them.

What about binder clips? Clip on to the grill, then slide the probe through the handles. Bend the handles down to secure the probe.
Wow!
@Hell Fire Grill, you know exactly what's happenin' under there! Too funny!
I haven't used the grate clips yet. I've always done like
@Jon and used a onion, potato or whatever. It works just fine as long as you keep that stuff on hand.

oh man that pic always cracks me up.
i'm going to start looking for mountable thermometers at flea markets and antique malls, i want to make one.
Quit futzing around with those sheet metal clips and get yourself a magnet + alligator clip.

When I get anal about probes, I've been using these custom Thirdeye probe trees. Stainless steel-twist on/off.

Nice job, swamp! Are you supposed to plug your probes into the tubes?
Grate ideas. Got me thinking.
No need to reinvent the wheel.
Here's a bunch to choose from:

Harbor Freight for the magnets - Radio Shack for the clips.

Bend the hook on the magnet to 90*. I crimp the jaws of the clip on the hook so the probe fits securely

No, you put the wire end of the clip on the stainless steel rod of the Thirdeye probe tree and attach the probe with the clip.
