The nice guy I got it from added in two canisters of gas, a chimney, Charcoal baskets and a cover. Frame is great. A little rust where the handles connect. Otherwise grates and everything else is in very good shape. He said the ignitor for the gas assist wasn't working but may just need a battery. Anyone have a link to how to get at it to replace it?
Congrats. Looks like a good deal to me. I have that exact grill (black DE performer) and it's my go to cooker. You won't be disappointed.
Not sure what to tell you on the igniter except that there is no battery. I'd clean up the connections as a first try, but it might need a new ignition button.

Congrats! Saw that on CL. For the ignitor, disconnect it and sand everything down. All contacts, inside the tube, everything. Take a bent coast hanger and scrape out the inside off the burner tube in case there's spider webs. I'd almost guarantee it's not the ignitor button.
Congratulations! I saw that one too....as I find myself looking more, and more often lately.
Have fun!
Nice buy. That's a good looking grill.

Easiest access is to simply remove the ThermoSet Table. All is then "clear". SJ
That's a sweet score. Performers aren't too common there and you got if for a great price.
Got Lobster?
Fill her up!
Nice "catch"!
It's got a piezo igniter button, as all older Webers do. So yeah, no batteries. Pull the "C" clip at the burner tube end of the hose to remove the hose from that end. Inspect the brass fitting. Clean off crud and poke a tiny wire through the oriface.

I also like to take a vacuum to the the burner tube to suck out ash that inevitably accumulates in it.
Nice! My 2nd gen. Performer is the workhorse of my kettle family.
Nice score!
Great find, can't wait to see it all cleaned up!
Yeah, like
@jkolantern said, if you take the igniter out of the tube and clean all the contacts points, it should spark up again.
So I was looking at youtube videos for Piezo Ignitor repairs after great suggestions from
@Neil_VT00 ,
@jkolantern @SmokenJoe and
@addicted-to-smoke and
@WNC I stumbled across this lady from Alaska's video in which she suggested that it could be a loose connection and here's a screenshot from her video in which you can see the white wire is pushed pretty far up on the connection-
(https://northeastbbqdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2016/03/piezoignitor3.jpg?w=702)
I took this photo below when I picked up the grill of the ignition assembly and from the picture it seems like maybe the white wire is loose. It looks like it might be barely hanging on there.-
(https://northeastbbqdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2016/03/piezoignitor4.jpg)
I'm at the dock right now so I'm really itching to get home to see it could be as simple as pushing that white wire on better!
I'll report back.
Here is the video I'm referencing-

Also, pick up a stick lighter on the way home if you don't already have one. Weber says not to do it, but you can light the flame with one if you're careful and don't leave the gas on too long beforehand. Just like diagnosing a car ... if nothing else it'll tell you if lack spark or fuel.
And there's another way to test for fuel flow, potentially. You'll hear it when you turn on the gas, if you're hearing's decent and it's quiet outside.
Update:
When I went out to get the serial number to register the Performer I pushed the white wire on the clip more securely. The gas assist started right up! Yesssssss!
So just to recap ... you got a totally working Gen2 Perf Dlx for a mere $75 w/ two extra tanks ... now, that's what I call a bargain ... now get an SnS and cook some Ribs :) SJ
Better than that! Free table upgrade, too >> http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/metal-performer-table-upgrade/msg213849/#msg213849
Yesssss!
You need to buy a lotto ticket now fast, as you be a winner.
Question for anyone i have a 2010 AD performer and where is the P/N serial plate or sticker located at ?
I was under the impression serial numbers on the charcoal grills didn't begin until 2015.

Back panel on my DE 2009.
Apparently every "gas" grill weber has sold (including gas assist performers, not sure about gas kettles) has a serial number. Congrats on the score and table. Clean it up and post up some pictures of it all "back in black"!
Thanks I need to contact Weber about my table I moved it today to clean it and it cracked. So now I guess I will not need to clean it.I also need to order bale rollers so I was thinking of upgrading to the 2015 style bale system.
Then mine will be complete.
First to scrape 'er down with the razor blade

She was in pretty decent shape to begin with but the blacks were faded, there was cobwebs and the bowl, lid and ash pan were all encrusted in crud.
After a good scrape with the razor and scrub with the extra fine steel wool-

Next to clean all the black trim including legs, wire grate shelf on the bottom and charcoal basket and then apply Back To Black to restore the original deep black luster.

All the aluminum was scrubbed with the extra fine steel wool as well. I didn't spend any time on the thermostatic table as it will be replaced with a newer metal style Performer table when it arrives.
Fired up the gas assist to light a chimney of charcoal. It was nice to not have to use paper or lighter cubes to get the chimney going. Just placed it on top of the gas assist tube filled up the chimney and let it light the coals. After about three minutes the gas assist was turned off and the chimney dud the rest of the work. Dumped the chimney into the Weber charcoal baskets and put them in the center.

The grates that came with the Performer were already in decent shape but I gave them a quick scrub and oiled them down with Peanut oil before placing the rubbed chicken tenderloins offset the coal baskets around the perimeter of the bowl. Placed a small chunk of mesquite in the center for smoke.
When they hit 165 internal they got pulled off to eat.

Waiting for the new style metal table to be delivered tomorrow and handle from Brian :)
Wow! Looks great.
Nice score captjoe!
looking good!
4/2/16 Update:
So yesterday she looked like this-
(https://northeastbbqdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2016/03/wp-1459456358938.jpg?w=640&h=640)
Today the updated Performer table and stainless charcoal basket cord arrived.
The swap out took all of five minutes and the results are very pleasing. If I owned an older Performer it would be the first thing I'd do is order the newer style table.
The newer style metal table comes with bolts that are darker than the bolts that came on the original as you can see in the picture. I was torn deciding between keeping with the silver ones that were in great shape still or using the newer black ones that shipped with the metal table. In the end I decided to go with the darker ones, knowing that I could always swap them back f the black ones start to rust or something( I just need to not misplace them)
It was raining but I just couldn't wait.
First to hook up the new charcoal basket cord while the table was still not bolted down. The cord that was on there previously had rusted clips. New style looks to be stainless so ask for I if you order the newer metal table.
Next to bolt it in, no drilling or modification necessary.

"And so it begins. "
Truer words never spoken.....
Congrats on a great first score. You have have given that performer new life!
Winz
Wow, that handle looks great on there!
Love the table upgrade too. I've got the same style performer that I blacked out like Matt's, just haven't gotten around to posting pics. I did the table upgrade too, well well worth it.
Great job on fixing up a grill that will be a workhorse and provide many years of cooks to come!
Looks really good, the whole grill is really coming together, nice job

I have that style performer as well that I picked up at a pawn shop over a year ago for $80. Thanks for the part number for that table as I want to put a metal one on mine even though my plastic one is still in decent shape.
I had read somewhere that the holes on the metal table and the plastic one were in different spots so that some drilling had to be done. I'm glad that wasn't the case.

It's a total no brainer IMO if your performer is in decent shape. I figure the one I picked up has many many good years of BBQ in front of it and it makes me feel stupid for how much money I've dumped into gasses in the past ten years. Makes me sick to think of it

Mine is still in good shape so it would be worth it. I just need to free up some extra money.
