Title: The development of a disease-weberitis.
Post by: crowderjd on December 31, 2015, 02:21:54 PM
Happy new year to all.

At this time last year, I had just joined the club in October and had one lovely grill, the performer, which I'd been using since 2009.  Until I joined the club, I didn't know they came in colors other than black.  That's when my symptoms began.

In April, I found a Simpsons Smokey Joe, literally across the street, for $7.  That was my first pickup.  I was very happy!  It's highlight of the year was its use as our little camp grill camping near Bryce Canyon in Utah.

Then in June, I found a 2008 Performer with a blue lid.  I swapped out the black one for the blue one, and gave my friend the black lid to go with his new performer.  An obsession was growing.

Then on two days in July I found a 2014 copper OTG and a WSM.  I was officially hooked with the Weber bug.

From there things escalated quickly when I restored a patent pending avocado in September.  I had Weber fever.

After that my illness spiraled out of control.  I established an Ebay account to buy my first red:

Then I exhibited the signs of an addict by making my sister buy a grill for me 1600 miles away.  I exhibited signs of insanity by attempting to check it as luggage, and bring it back home.  My father contributed to my disease by making me new handles.

Finally I reached the point of no return, purchasing another red kettle for no other reason that it's proximity to my house.

All in all, it's been a fun descent into madness, and I hope that I catch YELLOW fever at some point during 2016 ;).

Happy new year to all, and thanks for your help in being a big part of my 2015.  I really love all the hints, cooking tips, restoration tips, and assistance you all have given in the last year.  Have a happy, safe, and blessed 2016!

Wow.  What a great young collection you have.  Alas Canada does not have the quantity of coloured kettles as south of the border so mine are all black for now but still love them.

Congratulations on a VERY nice collection.  Since you have been so "good" all year, I'm certain that KK (the Kettle Karma Goddess) shall bestow lime green-ness and/or yellow-ness in the coming months.  Enjoy your kettles ...                          SJ

Very diverse collection. Well done.

When you think about it, there are worse things to spend your money on.

Nice! Soon there'll be no room on that slab.

Weberitis indeed...Thankfully, research for the cure is grossly underfunded.
